France Ballon Monte:Le “General Bourbaki” VF complete folded letter, Jan 18, 1871 Paris cancel, sent to Dieppe (Jan 30, 1871 backstamp), carried 125 kg of mail. The landing of this balloon escaped detection by local Prussian units. The basket and contents were transported successfully but the rest of the balloon was buried by the locals eliminating any evidence it had ever landed. (BM63 €500)
